First crashes...

It had to happen sooner or later, right?

As soon as I finished building the FT Spitfire, even before flying it, I realized it was a bit over my league. So I decided to build a more "disposable" plane: the FT Delta.
Last Sunday morning I went to the usual airfield to search for a test pilot and Alfredo Morgado ended up being the victim... again. He flew for a few seconds, landed and gave his stamp of approval. But the wind was a bit too strong for me, so I decided not to try flying.
Later that day I returned to the airfield, alone and with absolutely no wind.
I took off, made two or three turns and as I was starting to think "Hey! This is easy!" I stalled and entered a spin. Two seconds later the plane was on the ground. I ran to the wreck not knowing what to expect, but there was no damage whatsoever.
Second time I was able to fly a bit more but it ended in the same result.
The third time, I tried to exit the spin with more power... which just made the plane fall faster and harder. This time the sound was different. There was a loud crack.
Fortunately, the only damage was a broken prop and a bent landing gear.

I'm glad I got it out of my system! Now I know what a crash feels like. It's interesting to walk to the crash site while trying to guess the damage by the sound it made.

Well... guess I'm gonna have to build a trainer after all... :)

Have a safe crash,
Miguel
